Chattahoochee National Forest, Vogel State Park, Blairsville, GA
The Chattahoochee National Forest covers almost 750,000 acres and spans 18 Georgia counties. Our part of the forest is home to Brasstown Bald, the highest point in Georgia. It contains the headwaters of every major river in North Georgia, and offers hundreds of waterfalls, mountain lakes and dales, and abundant wildlife. Vogel State Park, within the borders of the Chattahoochee National Forest, is Georgia’s second oldest state park.

Historic Courthouse

Love architecture? Love history? Both elements come alive for you when you visit this Romanesque brick/granite courthouse built in 1899 on the square in downtown Blairsville, and placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. Recently restored, it’s now a local history museum, cultural center, and summertime concert hall.

Brasstown Bald Mountain

Brag to your friends that you’ve been to the top of Georgia’s highest peak at 4,784 feet! Reach the summit via trails or shuttle bus. Hiking trails, picnicking. Visitor Information Center open weekends in April-May, full time Memorial Day-October, based on weather. 706-745-6928.

 

Southern Tree Plantation, Blairsville, GA
This 60 acre plantation is a great place for a group outing. The plantation boasts over 5,000 pumpkins and 25,000-plus Christmas Trees. Activities include hay rides, miniature train ride, and plenty of animals to see.

 

North Georgia Waterfalls, North Georgia
North Georgia waterfalls are located in Lumpkin, Banks, Dawson, Union, Fannin, Gilmer, Rabun, Towns, Stephens, Habersham, Murray, White, Walker, Pickens and Dade Counties.

 

 

Trackrock Archeological Area
Walk a mile in the moccasins of Native Americans within this two-acre area with preserved petroglyphs of ancient native origin carved or pecked into soapstone boulders. Blue Ridge Scenic Railway, Blue Ridge, GA
This world-famous scenic train ride takes passengers alongside the Toccoa River from Blue Ridge to McCaysville.

Chattahoochee National Fish Hatchery, Blue Ridge/Suches, GA
Tour the hatchery and visitor center free of charge from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily to learn about the fascinating local natural habitats, fish for trout. Established in 1938 by the U.S. Forest Service, this facility is used to product one million trout per year.

Babyland General Hospital, Cleveland, GA
Known the world over as the birthplace of the “hand-stitched” Original Cabbage Patch Kids,  Baby Land General Hospital is a very real place.

Consolidated Gold Mines, Dahlonega, GA
Take a tour and learn about the mines and mining, even pan for your own gold.

Alpine Helen, Nacoochee Village, Helen, GA
Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains on the Chattahoochee River, this Northeast Georgia village has a rich history linked to the Cherokee Indians and Indian burial mounds as well as early settlers who arrived to mine for gold and cut virgin timber for a thriving lumber industry in the early 1900s. Helen is a re-creation of an alpine village complete with cobblestone alleys and old-world towers.

Helton Creek Falls

Bring your camera, because you’ll want to capture this natural wonder! Not just one, but two beautiful falls set in our deep hardwood forest with a total drop of 100 feet. An easy 300-yard trail leads to the falls.

Great Smokey Mountain National Park, Gatlinburg, TN/Cherokee, NA
