Mountain roots and artistic culture are part of the Georgia reality. It seems there is always a festival or event to attend while you’re here. This area is famous for its mountain music and exquisite folk art. If you check the local calendar, you can find everything from bluegrass festivals to gold panning competitions, fishing tourneys, art fairs, etc. Local hospitality operators will be able to provide an up-to-date schedule of events, or you can find out more through the Blairsville/Union County Chamber of Commerce and Blue Ridge’s All Aboard.
March ~ 10 Different wineries… Come and discover the superb wines, outstanding experiences our wineries have to offer, and the hospitality our Affiliate members offer in the way of lodging, restaurants and shopping! You can purchase your Passport at any winery you begin your Wine Highway experience at. Cost is $25.oo which gives you tastings at all 10 wineries and a souvenir glass.

Scottish Festival & Highland Games
2nd weekend in June ~ At Meeks Park in Blairsville. Clan gatherings, genealogy tent, Scottish vendors, Scottish foods, Pipe & Drum bands, Athletic games, Children’s games & activities, Border Collie demonstrations, Scottish Harp workshop, Scottish fiddle workshop, Scottish dancing & lots of Scottish Music.
July ~ At Meeks Park in Blairsville. The Finest Local Arts and Crafts show of the summer. Features 65 juried quality artists, artisans and craftsmen. In addition, the festival will have 6 demonstrating craftsmen and 5 exceptionally talented musical entertainers performing both days in the Meeks Park gazebo. Parking and Admission are free.

July ~ At Meeks Park in Blairsville
1st Weekend in August ~ Join us for the annual outdoor activity filled weekend for Women only. Your choice of activities for 3 sessions to include Women’s self defense, fly fishing, marksmanship, outdoor cooking, plant identification, hiking, tubing, Map & Compass, team building with zip line ride and lake kayaking. Weekend includes meals on Saturday. Cost $160 per participant. Lodging discounts available.
Southeastern Bluegrass Association Festival
September ~ at the Old Courthouse in Blairsville, City Hall and the Mountain Life museum, stage performances will be ongoing. Workshops for instruments and sound & recording technology will be available. Local arts & crafts with music related vendors. Food offered by local organizations. Admission is free.
October, 2 & 3rd weekends ~ At Meeks Park, this two day event will include a parade, car show, log sawing contest, biskit eating contest, arts and crafts, music, good food, making sorghum, beautiful scenery and mountain hospitality.
1st weekend in October ~ On the grounds of Woody Gap School between Dahlonega and Blue Ridge, the event will include activities and family entertainment, arts and crafts, antiques, pottery, leather, local produce, folk art, homemade fried apple pies and good BBQ.
Saturdays in October ~ Fall celebration at the lodge will include free cookies & apple cider on Fridays.
December ~ Taste the wines of Georgia. Pick up your wine passport and visit 10 wineries in this region. For each winery, you will present a ‘visa’ to taste and receive a souvenir glass. Please drink responsibly.
